How did she do this???

OK, so looking through Mum's gallery on facebook and docrafts, there is a lot of barbera grey stuff in there.

One of the main techniques she used was the brayer.

Now, she did teach me but it was years ago and I have totally forgotten how to do this.

I have all the kit needed and all the stamps....there are templates of the words "Love" etc with the centre circles cut out....

Do any of you have any idea how she will have created this card? Just the stamping techniques I mean with masking etc...

I know that there are several layers of card here all done seperately, the main thing I am concerned with it the stamping and colouring of the inside of the letter "O" and also, how did she do the backing card?

I am guessing some kind of brayer technique with scrunched card? but how did she get the leave pattern which is a barbera grey stamp to remain clear?

  2. Hi Lousie no expert on brayering but I would assume inside the circle is brayered as well, someone will know the answer for you.

  3. The middle of the O is done by masking off the rest and then brayering and stamping. The outside of the card looks like its embossed then inked again with the brayer, probably with a 'Big and juicy' ink pad. You will need to watch Barbara Gray for tutorials.

  5. Beautiful card. No expert at all but I would guess the background is using a scrunched piece of paper to take some ink off the brayer before rolling on to the background card, thus leaving the crinkly lines. The leafy swirls I would imagine have been stamped in clear ink and the brayer used, then ink polished off the images? I think you need to watch Barbara too, her work is amazing

  8. Your mum was so talented, puts my inking to shame! Well, the moon is done with a circle mask. You need to check out a Barbrar Gray video to see the brave ring technique, but these days it's much easier with a splodgemat mat than it used to be. It's hard to say how the rest was done without being able to see the real card, but I'm guessing the flourishes have been heat-embossed in clear (unless they are over stamped in white). The texture could come from crumpled paper, either with versamark ink and clear embossing powder before inking, or with dilute bleach, or water on distress ink, or white ink or paint over the top! Hope this gives you some ideas anyway. Maddy x

Just read jewelsmae's answer and I think she's right about the background. Xxx
